We live in the age of indie games: just look on Steam how many indie games there are!
I played them a lot, some of them discovered thanks to the various indie bundle on the internet, others during the Steam Sale. Often you find some hidden gem between this indie game.

What are your favourite indie games?
Personally I'm a fan of The Binding of Isaac, beautiful and engaging roguelike, VVVVVV, one of the hardest and funniest platformer ever, and of course the emotional adventure/rpg To The Moon.
What about yours? Do you know any unknown and good indie games?

Great topic. I also enjoy The Binding of Isaac even though it sometimes makes me frustrated when I lose hearts for nothing.

    My top favorites are:
    - FTL (faster than light) - it's roguelike game and you are on a spaceship, also some RPG/strategy elements,
    - Stardew Valley (if you ever played Harvest Moon, you will LOVE this game),
    - Terraria ( a bit like Minecraft but in 2D and so much content).

    HIGHLY recommend all of these.

FTL! I forgot about that! Played it a lot when it came out (i'm a fan of roguelike game randomly generated like this). I remember it to be pretty hard, never managed to reach the final boss. But I surely had lot of fun with it.
The thing I loved the most were, when enemies boarded my ship, trapping them in a room and opening the doors to suck out all the hoxygen... how satisfying!

I'm a fan of everything Nisha and Xilkozuf mentioned - especially To the Moon. That one's always been close to my heart simply for being proof that the RPG Maker platform is great for people with a story to tell who otherwise lack the skills or resources to make a game from scratch.

Since all of my usual suspects have already been mentioned, I've been having a lot of fun with the recently released (to Early Access) Dead Cells. It's a side-scrolling action platformer that has its roots in Castlevania, Dark Souls, and Metroid. It's got several hand-crafted room that are assembled in a random order every run, so each run feels new while still getting rooms that feel tightly designed.

You get two weapon slots and two spell slots and plenty of stuff to put in both, giving you a lot of interesting combos you'll need to exploit to deal with the increasing numbers of enemies as you progress deeper in a run. Despite being early access, it's a beautiful game with beautiful music, few bugs, and plenty of content.

Inside is my all time favorite. The ending and the atmosphere is just breathtaking.

I would have to say the one of my favorites at the moment would be super meat boy. Seems like a pretty fun game.
