I'm unable to post the link to the article, but apparently TakeTwo inc. ( GTA V publisher ) wants all their future games to have microtransactions. What does this have to do with Borderlands you ask ? Well, 2K games company which publishes Borderland games is a publishing subsidiary of TakeTwo inc.

Having this in mind, are you opposed to having micro-transactions in Borderlands 3 ?
I'm not really, as long as it doesn't impact the gameplay in a significant way. Since Borderlands 3 won't be a PVP mp game, there won't be any pay2win system in place either, so I couldn't care less if some suckers spend their money on comestic stuff or what not.

If micro-transactions include only skins and other visual effects that don't give you any boost gameplay wise I don't really mind it. I'm all against micro-transactions that give you gameplay boosts, and I think that it is really unfair to the players. Not all players can have a lot of money to throw at a game just so they can be even close to the top payers of the game. Companies haven't learned that giving the gameplay boosts for money will make the players hate the game (like EA), but I'm glad that some of them are stepping out of the micro-transcations system. If you want a game to be played and still make money, put skins and other visual only stuff like in League of Legends and CS:GO.

I'm honestly just worried about possible content being locked behind microtransactions. Like you, I'm against microtransactions, but since Borderlands is a single player/co-op game I won't care about cosmetic stuff or possible in-game player boosts.

A form of these microtransactions are lootboxes that let players use real world money to actually buy a chance of obtaining a rare character skin or other digital, intangible reward. Usually these are found in free to play games though, and are a necessary evil.
