i found out the other day the first halo came out on both xbox and pc. why did they switch to just xbox

 

Because microsoft completely scrapped their Games for Window Live system. Any PC game designed for it had cross platform multiplayer with the Xbox 360.

Most likely is was due to games like Shadowrun being incredibly unfair during these crossplatform games. Somebody on PC would have a ridiculous advantage over somebody using a 360 controller.

Another reason is that they can make more money off of Xbox sales if you give people an incentive to buy that system (console exclusives).

With their new digital distribution thing on Windows 8 Games for Windows Live might make a comeback. I wouldn't hold your breath though.

 

I'm totally buying this console. I saw the live stream of the announcement and know pretty much all the cool things that Sony is bringing to the table this holiday.

Sacrid, something I'm not sure you've seen yet but did you know that Diablo 3 is EXCLUSIVELY coming to ps3 and 4? How wicked is that? Me n my wife practically wet ourselves with excitement. Another huge plus that Blizzard announced about it coming to console was four-player co-op shared screen...!

 

Buy it for PS4. The PS3 version will be as bad as Starcraft for N64.

 

Unfortunately not my call lol...we are getting it for both. But one question that my wife did bring up, do you think you'll be able to port over your character from your pc? She says that everything runs under battlenet and thats where your save is. I'm not too familiar with how battlenet works so do you think you can enlighten me a bit on that?

 

Playstation will not use Bnet, meaning your PC characters are only usable on PC and you PS characters are only usable on PS.

Bnet is essentially a network of servers that Blizzard uses to manage Starcraft Diablo and World of Warcraft.

But all in all i'll be getting this as soon as its available. One thing that i'm looking forward to is what its actualy gonna look like. Another black box ftw!

its gonna be awesome! anyone else going to get it when it comes out? i know that this forum is pretty 360 heavy but there are a few ps fan boys that could relate to the excitement that i have for it

 

It all depends on the exclusives.

 

From how things are going not many games will be exclusives unless they were before...its going to be interesting what comes out

Honestly the only reason I bought a 360 was for the halo series. Now that Microsoft is starting to get into games with windows 8 I'm hoping we will see future Halo titles on PC. If not I will most likely be getting the new Xbox to start.

 

Yeah thus the reason ill be owning a 360 shortly is for halo...I know bungie is making games for everyone now too so we could see a console wide halo game? I see this as unlikely because of the new studio that's doing the halo games. Are they the only ones to the rights of halo at this time? Or is it quite possible for bungie to return to the series or even reproduce there older titles to other platforms?

Bungie was part of microsoft during the development of halo and halo 2 so Microsoft has all the rights to the Halo series. We will never see a playstation version of any of the halo games because of this.
