Jamie Lee Curtis Added To Borderlands Movie Cast

How long would Laurie Strode last in the world of Borderlands? She’d probably adapt pretty well, considering…but how long would the lady from the Activia commercials survive?

News on the Borderlands movie is picking up. The first whiff of information about casting happened in May of 2020 when Cate Blanchett was given the role of Lilith. Eight months later, we heard that Kevin Hart was given the role of Roland…reports suggested Movie Roland’s backstory will match up with the game’s version of him, where he was a former soldier of Crimson Lance who turned to the looting life after an honorable discharge.

Now Jamie Lee Curtis has joined the cast. She’s playing Tannis, aka the archaeologist Dr. Patricia Tannis. The movie version is described as having a “complicated history with Lilith,” which deviates from the game’s backstory a bit. Out of the actors announced so far, Curtis is actually the best fit to date…she’s in-tune enough with gamer culture to not only have heard of the Borderlands series, but possibly have played it. If any of you remember that time a movie came out based on Warcraft, well, she showed up to the premiere dressed as an orc.

The Borderlands movie was first announced in 2015. Whenever it officially gets under way, it will be directed by Eli Roth (Hostel, Death Wish) from a script written by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl, The Hangover Part 2 and 3). Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Erik Feig will serve as producers.“Working with the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis has been a life long dream of mine, and I am so excited for her to bring her humor, warmth and brilliance to the role of Tannis,” Roth said regarding the latest news.

Two of the original gang of four have now been cast. Who would you prefer as the remaining two? The Borderlands movie currently has no release date.
