What do you guys consider acceptable drop rates for orange gear? Same question for you mods... Reason I ask, I have spend 5 hours non stop farming Hunter Hellquist today for the bee. Took a little break, then spent another 2 hours non stop. 7 hours today alone. Since I am able to get about 45 kills per hour, that means I have killed Hunter Hellquist 315 just today, with no Orange drop. 315 TODAY alone, with no orange drop. DO i want the gear to drop every time? No. Do I expect reasonable drop rates? yes Do I consider less than 1% a reasonable drop rate? NO Right now, if that shield were to drop, i would have a less than 0.3% drop rate on it. What is my incentive to keep farming this mob, much less the rest of this game if I am getting a less than 0.3% drop rate chance? Why should I spend my money buying DLC for a less than 0.3% drop rate? Now I know a lot of you guys have gotten lucky and got the shiel after 10 or 30 or even 100 kills. Those numbers are acceptable to me. I think we can all agree on this. But where should we, and game developers draw the line?
I completely agree. I came to the conclusion that when Gearbox said Legendary items were RARE, they really did mean RARE. Super RARE. Super dooper RARE. Are you on PS3? If you are, and you are sick of farming, hit me up, I would love to help you out with farming and weapons.
Remember since this isn't an official site we really have no say in how the game is designed. However your sample size is also relatively small to determine an effective droprate since RNG will screw with you in sizes under 1000. I'm told most legendaries have a 1-5% drop rate, I'm sure thats probably off though. Any dataminers want to look into drop rates for this? This is a multiplayer game with a trading system. It is designed around using that system to get what you need. Sure you might have terrible luck on The Bee, but you might have amazing luck on the Skullmasher or Emperor. Instead of trying to farm 1 boss before restarting try a bunch of them and see what you get. It isn't nearly as boring that way and who knows you might get lucky on something else.
Theres also the aspect of number of teammates, this was meant to be a coop game, probably meaning the drop rates where made around the fact of having 4 teammates
The increased droprate per player is a waste of time imo. The droprate is only slightly increased (It would have to be doubled for 2 players, tripled for 3 players and quadrupled for 4 which it isnt.) and if both/all players need the same item it would be more efficient to farm solo. Now if only 1 person needs the item by all means go ahead and put together a coop game because in that case it is better.
I agree, I spent 4 hours today solely farming the bee today... I eventually gave up and decided I'll come back another day if I have to.. what a monotonous activity.
Not to sound like i'm rubbing this in your face, but Earlier today i found out about the bee shield and farming hellquist for it so i tohught i'd give it a go. I got the grounded bee shield after 3 kills. 3. i would like to say good things come to those who wait but... Anyways, good luck
Got the bee the first kill, the one from the mission on playthrough 1. but i've only seen 2 legendary guns so far and I'm level 35. Bummer part is they suck! I'm assuming you are going for the level 50 one though.
