So, as many of you are aware, EA did a beta for Crysis 3, the latest FPS from crytek. The beta lasted from 2nd February to the 12th february and I gotta say, i did enjoy playing one of the available modes. I wasn't particulary any good at it, in fact i was pretty bad, but it's a multiplayer that's different enough to make it more fun and interesting than something like Call of Duty. Some information Name - Crysis 3 Publisher - EA Developer - Crytek Game engine - CryEngine 3 PC Platform - Origin Beta duration - 2/2 - 12/2 Release date - 22nd February What the beta offered Through these 10 days, we got to play 2 available modes, crash site and hunted, on two maps, museum and airport. Crash site was a KOTH style mode where alien mods come falling down from the sky and your team has got secure and hold the site. Eventually the pod will explode and a new one will drop. Hunted is slightly different, based of the popular mod 'the Hidden', 2 people are chosen to be hunters with unlimited cloak, extreme speed and a powerful, one hit kill bow, the rest of people were standard cell troops, armed with a proximity alarm with told them when a hunter was in their line of sight. Crash site I personally did not enjoy crash site. I have never been a fan of King of the hill in any game, so i'm not sure why i'd enjoy it here. Usually what i ended up doing was just running around the alien pod with the starter shotgun (which was complained about being OP) and just killing everyone. The Hunted Now this mode was a lot of fun. If you want adrenaline, this mode gives it to you in bucketfuls. When you play as a cell, you cant see the hunters at anything but close distance and the hunters also know where you are all the time, meaning that when there are a good few hunters and your proximity alarm is constantly going off, you start getting freaked out and worried, sometimes shooting at stuff because theres a slight chance its a hunter. Being a hunter is also incredible fun, moving swiftly around with the bow is great and its so fun to see people's reactions to sudden death from your arrows. The Maps Both maps were quite good, offering different locations to fight in. Museum takes part in a crumbled museum in the center of New York, while Airport takes part at an airport (big surprise there) on the outskirts of New York. Both maps offer a variety of ways to move and several scattered 'alien weapons' like a bolt rifle and a grenade launching thing. You can also pick up pipes and throw them at people, which is pretty cool. The Verdict I can't base Crysis 3 off the beta. I doubt many of you will play multiplayer for a good length, and just play the campaign since that's what crytek does best. The multiplayer is definitely fun to play, but i can guarantee you'll be buying it for the campaign. Just a note to PC gamer's, my Intel i7 2700K CPU, Twin Frozr III 2048MB GFX and 8GB of RAM got me about 15FPS with everything maxed out, it's an extremely demanding game. So, my verdict is... 7/10 A great beta! I didn't enjoy it as much as say, the BF3 beta, but it was still fun. So guys, that about wraps it up, leave your comments below on what you thought of the review and what you would like to see in my next mini review. Your choices are... FTL: faster than light Blacklight Retribution Counter strike: Global Offensive Anyways guys, i hope you enjoyed this review. The next time i see you, it'll probably be with my SR3 review! This is Ferrari, the living legend... OUT!! (PS: Amnesia was originally an option, but since i have no webcam for a 'scare-cam', i thought the review would have been boring without seeing my reaction. If you really want to see it, then i can give the demo a try)
Somebody should play hunted in the middle of the night with all the lights out and low brightness. See how many times you need to change your shorts.
I've heard of the cryengine...what makes it stand out from other engines? I am looking forward to getting this game when my movie check comes in...it seems pretty good and thumbs up on the review red!
