I know this thread may cause some controversy but I'm looking to see everyone's opinion here on which one they liked.
For me personally I REALLY enjoyed Borderlands 1 as I used to play it on my good ole' xbox 360 back in the days. I liked the grittiness of the first and it felt like I was more immersed compared to the second.
So what did YOU like better?

So far, I'm still playing Borderlands 2 as I haven't finished it, but I enjoyed the simplicity in 1 more. Then again, I much prefer Sanctuary over New Haven, and Handsome Jack is an awesome villain.

It also feels as if the story is getting much more serious, while at the same time also more humerus.

I did like weapon proficiency though, and am sorta sad that they removed it.

Borderlands 1 was amazing but Borderlands 2 was better in every aspect in my opinion, a much better game with a better story.

I loved the first borderlands, but I like the 2 way more because it feels way more polished and advanced. It's like a upgrade, and when you grab it, you can't go back.

Borderlands 1 was what made me love the series, but I still have to go with Borderlands 2. Borderlands 2 was much better than the first game in my opinion. Not only were the graphics a bit better, but I found the classes more enjoyable. I actually followed the storyline throughout the second game of the series. The story kept my attention and I didn't feel as if I was simply running around shooting people.

I share basically the same perspective. I think both games were amazing, and I think that Borderlands 1 was a really, really good hook into the game. The first time I played BL1 I knew it was something special. My friends and I played it like crazy, and was because of that that so much hype built for us for BL2. Borderlands 1 was an amazing game, and a big reason why Borderlands 2 blew me away was because of the foundation laid down in Borderlands 1. I'm glad that the developers stayed true to this foundation, and build up a truly phenomenal game.

Yes, the first part has more simplicity in it. I agree with you.

I completely agree with you. Borderlands 2 is way more advanced than the first part.

Borderlands 1 is a good game but Borderlands 2 turns out to be the best.

I haven't actually played 1 yet, only 2. I don't know now if it is worth me playing 1 or whether I'll be disappointed by it after having played 2 already.

I have all of the dlc from Borderlands, plus the art style it self lends itself nicely to graphics that age very well. So considering there's not a big difference visually, I'd give the edge to the first.

I like both of them but if I were to choose between them, I would definitely choose the second game. Although I have not finished Borderlands 2, I just feel it that this one is so much better than the first one.

I can see the simplicity arguments but at the same time I kind of enjoy the chaos a little bit and the struggle, and I also think that the second was a good step up in general in terms of game play and flow.
